About

The Department of Psychology at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bangalore is considered one of the best academic departments to pursue various Psychology programs in India. As one of the first departments to be founded, it has grown by leaps and bounds, sustained by its commitment towards innovation in curriculum, pedagogy and ground breaking initiatives. When the new off campus was inaugurated at Delhi NCR in the year 2019, The Department of Psychology at Delhi NCR campus was established as an extension of its parent department in Bangalore. The Vision of the Department is to promote high academic standards and scholarship in psychology, by creating an optimal and enriching learning environment, fostering ongoing professional and personal development and contributing effectively to societal needs.

The Department runs a range of programmes with different specialisations. Through these programmes we encourage students to consider careers and life missions that integrate psychological understanding to life. Our programmes integrate scholarship with professional practice and we offer courses that are cutting edge in the field of psychology. Students who complete programmes in Psychology from the University demonstrate high degrees of self-awareness are service-oriented and are encouraged to embrace humane values in their vocation.

Overview

The Department runs a range of programmes that include Undergraduate programmes, Post Graduate programmes with two specializations, Open Electives and Doctoral Programme. Through these programmes we encourage students to consider careers and life missions that integrate psychological understanding to life. Our programmes integrate scholarship with professional practice and we offer courses that are cutting edge in the field of psychology. Students who complete programmes in Psychology from the University demonstrate high degrees of self-awareness are service oriented and are encouraged to embrace humane values in their vocation.

The Department realizes its vision to promote high academic standards through a continuous and dynamic curriculum review process based on feedback from peers, professionals, potential employers and students. A variety of student-centred teaching and training pedagogies are practiced by the faculty members. Prominent among them are the use of seminars, experiential methodologies, laboratory training, conferences, workshops, field based studies, and film based discussions and interactions with field experts.

I am extremely pleased to extend a warm welcome to School of Humanities and Social  Sciences, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Delhi NCR on behalf of all faculty,  students and staff.The SHSS at Delhi NCR benefits from a rich tradition of academic  lineage from CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bangalore Central campus wherein  students are guided through a transformative journey of holistic development. Students  are provided various opportunities to grow personally, academically and also socially  putting them on the road to becoming a responsible citizen. The school offers  undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in Economics, Psychology,  Sociology and Languages. All the programs offered by the school help students  discover  knowledge and appreciate scientific content with rigor and ethical stance. The  programs also facilitate development of skills required for practice, application and  research, nurturing critical and creative thinking skills. The Delhi NCR campus is striving to imbibe  Servant Leadership as part of our organisational culture

Being a part of the school, every student undergoes extensive training and have a humbling exposure of moulding themselves to be servant leaders and strive towards excellence and service. SHSS embraces its responsibility in preparing future professionals who are equipped to face the contemporary challenges of 21st century and facilitate training for them through community engagement. The curriculum for all the programs is also constantly and extensively reviewed to keep it closer to current updates in knowledge and the real world situations.The various academic programmes organised by the school in the form of conferences, seminars, workshops, trainings, internships ensure utmost academic rigour.
